Suzis Review of Fat Flush Diet Plan-How to Increase the Metabolism and Burn the Fat

Fat flush diet plan is a diet that is formulated by the famous nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, who is well known for having written a number of books and diet plans. Fat flush diet plan is a plan designed to reduce the weight and detoxify the body as well.

Fat flush diet is a restricted calorie and low carbohydrate diet which provides the body with all the necessary ingredients that trigger the metabolism of the body, decreases water retention, speeds up fat loss.

The principle behind the fat flush diet plan is that eating the right combination of food at regular intervals can increase the metabolism of the body, thereby helping in burning the fat. Hence instead of totally avoiding the fat, this fat flush diet plan includes right amount and type of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Also, in order to burn the stored body fat, the liver and the lymphatic system must be first detoxified.

This weight loss and detoxification diet has three phase i.e Phase1 which is of two weeks, phase 2 which is on going until the desired weights loss is obtained and phase 3 which is a maintenance phase.

Phase 1

This is a two-week phase for detoxifying the liver. Liver is the organ responsible for burning fat and hence if the liver has high level of toxins, the process of burning fat is slowed down. Hence the phase 1of the fat flush diet plan mainly focuses on detoxification. The main aim here is to clean the liver and the lymphatic system, reduce bloating or water retention, reduce cellulite and also loose some fat.

The intake of calories during this phase is restricted to 1100 to 1200 calories per day. Foods which are found to block the metabolism like wheat, alcohol, sugar, margarine, all oils and fats except flaxseed oil, cereals, breads, dairy products etc are not allowed to be eaten.

Some of the things that the phase 1 of the fat flush diet must comprise are long life cocktail, cran water, flax seed oil taken 1 tablespoon twice daily, GLA supplements, hot water with lemon juice in the morning, 1 egg per day, 8 oz of lean protein per day, two portion of fruit, unlimited raw or cooked vegetables, one chicken, beef or vegetable stock without salt and some quantity of herbs and spices.

During the phase 1 of the fat flush diet, the dieter must follow the following regimen. On waking up a long life cocktail has to be taken. Before the breakfast, 8 oz of hot water with lemon juice must be taken. A sample breakfast of phase 1 includes two scrambled eggs with parsley, green onions, scallions and spinach along with 8 oz of cran-water. Half of a large grapefruit can be taken as a snack. 8 oz of cran water needs to be taken before the lunch.

For the lunch one can have 4 oz of salmon with warm asparagus, lemon, garlic, mixed green salad made of broccoli and cucumber and one tsp of flax seed oil. 8 oz of cran-water must be taken along with lunch. 16 oz of cran water needs to be taken during the mid afternoon. Then for the snack one can have an apple. 8 oz of cran water is recommended to be taken just before the dinner. For the dinner, one can have grilled lamb chop with cinnamon and dried mustard, baked summer squash with little clove, sauted kale in broth and one tablespoon of flax-seed oil. Long life cocktail must be taken sometime before going to bed.

Phase 2

Phase 2 of the fat flush diet plan must be followed until the desired weight loss is achieved. The calorie restriction during this phase is 1200 to 1500 calories per day. Some of the carbohydrates can be added to the diet at the rate of one per week. Such carbohydrates that can be added are brown rice, sweet potato, carrots, peas, brown rice etc. There are slightly increased food options in phase 2 of the fat flush diet. There is a more moderate cleansing of the system during this phase of the fat flush diet.

Phase 3

Once the desired weight loss is achieved, one can stop the fat flush diet that has been followed . But this doesn’t necessarily mean that the person can eat as and what he wishes. Phase 3 involves maintenance of the ideal weight achieved as a result of the first two phases.  This has to be followed for the lifetime. During this phase, the dieter can add some starch, carbohydrates and sugar to the diet. However, the total calorie intake must be restricted to 1500 per day of which 40 % must be from carbohydrates, 30 % from fats and 30 % from proteins.
