Perricone weight loss diet has been designed by a well known skin doctor, Dr Perricone. This diet mainly aims at reducing the aging signs of the body thereby reducing the weight. Dr Perricone claims that certain foods cause inflammation in the body thereby speeding up the aging process.

The foods that must be included in the Perricone weight loss diet are wild Alaskan salmon, eggs, low fat yogurt, vegetables like beans, leafy vegetables, tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli and asparagus, spices like ginger, chilli, cinnamon, pepper and garlic, whole barley, buckwheat, green tea, oatmeal, nuts, olives, and spring water. Salmon and other cold water fishes contain omega 3 fatty acids and are known to be beneficial for proper functioning of the body. Including such foods as a part of diet are considered to be more beneficial than taking the omega 3 supplements. Also, the food must contain a lot of proteins and antioxidants.

There are certain foods that are found to cause inflammation in body and hence need to be strictly avoided when following Perricone weight loss diet. Such foods are sugar, soda, hard cheese, rice, fruit juices, pickles, pastas, noodles, some vegetables like carrots, peas, corn, potatoes and pumpkins, fruits like grapes, papaya, oranges, watermelon, mangoes and raisins, fruit juices, breakfast cereals, breads, duck, beef, alcohol and coffee.

Perricone weight loss diet requires having five meals a day i.e. breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. Including a lot of recommended foods into the diet makes the Perricone weight loss diet work better. Proteins must be taken before carbohydrates. The foods with high glycemic index, cause swelling in the body and hence must be cut down.

Perricone weight loss diet also involves taking at least 25 supplements a day and most of them are a part of the products manufactured by his line of business. In addition to following the Perricone weight loss diet, a regular 20 to 30 minute exercising is a must.

Perriocone says that this way of dieting can decrease the inflammation in every organ of the body. This in turn increases metabolism and reduces the risks of heart disease, cancer, skin problems, improves bone density and improves the immunity of the body. All these may lead to some weight loss in the body.

Although, Perricone weight loss diet is designed by a well known skin doctor, the diet has no proper evidence to prove that it works for sure. There are many blind conclusions made in this diet for which there is no scientific support. One can just try it out and see if it works for them.
