Balance the Zone Diet Plan:


When on a zone diet plan, one must take the diet balanced in protein to carbohydrate ratio. The recommended protein to carbohydrate ratio is 0.75 i.e. for every 4 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of proteins must be included. Every meal and snack must include low fat protein and carbohydrates. Good fats like olive oil must be included in the diet.

Meals of a zone diet plan must include 3 ounces of low fat proteins for women and 4 ounces of low fat protein for women.  Snacks must contain 1 ounce of protein. Including plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, green leafy vegetables, grains and starches is recommended as a part of the zone diet plan.

The zone diet plan involves having atleast three meals and two snacks daily. Breakfast must be taken within one hour of waking up. When following the zone diet plan, one must eat after 4 to 5 hours of having meals or after 2 to 2.5 hours of having snacks. The time gaps must be strictly followed and one must eat whether or not hungry.  It is considered better to eat before one is hungry. This helps in stabilizing the insulin levels.

The zone diet plan must be followed by a regular exercise regimen for showing good results. Needless to say, drinking lots of water is necessary. A person on the zone diet plan must consume atleast 8 glasses of water daily. Although, there may be frequent and excessive urination during the initial days of the zone diet plan and is perfectly normal.
